BIOL 320 - Invertebrate Ecology and Evolution

Invertebrates are critical to ecosystem function, agriculture, and public health. In this course, the anatomy, physiology, and behavior of the major invertebrate phyla are studied in an ecological and evolutionary context. Lectures, discussions, and writings are based on primary literature readings. Overnight and weekly field experiences involve collection, identification, and dissection. Students conduct semester-long research projects in their area of interest, for example: insect ecology, parasitology, marine biology, and disease ecology.
Prerequisites & Notes: BIOL 200. This course is offered in alternate years.
