FYSP 114 - Know Your Place: Civic Humanism and Community Engagement

This course introduces students to methods and ethics of collaborating with communities to address local, national, and global challenges and emphasizes the role of the humanities as a vehicle for engaged citizenship. Thecourse includes an applied component in which students explore select issue areas (such as economic inequality, food insecurity, or mass incarceration) as they are being addressed locally, and identify opportunities for further engagement with these issues through experiential learning programs and through advanced Community-Based Learningcourses in future semesters. Off-campus field trips required.
