APST 216 - Improvisation at the Organ Second Semester. A course designed to help students acquire the technical and mental disciplines necessary to improvise in different classical styles. The course is devoted primarily to learning how to apply keyboard harmony in improvising short pieces and to developing simple contrapuntal techniques. Cantus firmus treatment in two-, three-, and four-part textures will be explored along with more extended free forms.
Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisites: APST 214.
Consent of instructor required.
