MATH 030 - Topics in Contemporary Mathematics 3 NS, QPf
Second Semester. The interaction of mathematics with the social sciences is the central theme of this course. Topics are drawn from: graph theory, voting systems, discrete models, coding theory, exploratory data analysis, and combinatorics. Applications are given to social choice, decision-making, management and ecological modeling.
Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: A working knowledge of elementary algebra and geometry.
Notes: This course does not count toward a major in Mathematics and is not open to any student who has received credit for a math course numbered 131 or higher. It is intended for students who have not satisfied the quantitative proficiency requirement.
