Sigma Xi

The Oberlin Chapter of the Sigma Xi was established in 1941 for the promotion of scientific research. Sigma Xi, one of the oldest and largest scientific organizations in the world, is the international honor society of science and engineering with more than 200 Nobel Prize winners as members. Any undergraduate student who has shown marked aptitude for research in pure or applied science at Oberlin may be elected as an associate member by an active faculty/staff member of the Oberlin Chapter. Nomination to membership occurs each spring and students are inducted before commencement.
