The Office of Campus Safety provides 24-hour service to the campus community and can be reached at (440) 775-8444. The department is staffed by professional, non-sworn, unarmed Campus Safety officers who respond to potential criminal incidents, suspicious activity, requests for assistance, and emergency situations.
Campus Safety works in close collaboration with the Oberlin Police and Fire Departments to ensure coordinated and effective responses when needed. Officers patrol campus buildings, residence halls, and grounds on foot, by vehicle, and by bicycle to maintain a visible presence and promote a safe and supportive campus environment.
In the event of emergencies or significant campus incidents, the College utilizes ObieAlert, its emergency notification system. ObieAlert delivers timely warnings and critical updates through text messages, email, and other communication channels to help students, faculty, and staff make informed decisions during urgent situations. Students are strongly encouraged to register their mobile phone numbers to ensure they receive the most immediate notifications.

Parking on campus is limited. First-year students are strongly discouraged from bringing vehicles to Oberlin. Any student who brings a vehicle to campus is required to register it with the Office of Campus Safety.
