4 SS, WRi First Semester. In the American democracy, political leadership requires a willingness to seek tentative answers to questions that may have no final, unambiguous answer. These include: Does political leadership require certain personal qualities? Can you lead without political power? Without increasing governmental authority of decreasing personal liberty? This seminar deals with these and related questions through reading and discussing various case studies and other analytical perspectives and through writing and rewriting many essays over the semester.
