Covers the end of traditional society and emerging modernity in the
experience of Marranos, mystics, messiahs, secular Jews and religious
reformers; the struggle for legal equality and social acceptance; family and
economics; assimilation and cultural revival; antisemitism and Jewish
responses; Zionism; Jewish socialism; the Shoah; founding of Israel.
