POLT 110 - Revolution, Socialism and Reform in China

Second Semester. We begin with a chronological overview, from ancient times to the present. Then we proceed topically, focusing on: politics and the state; political economy (including industry and agriculture); gender relations; population; and cultural politics. Written work consists of take-home, open-book essays, and weekly comments on the readings. We will also screen and discuss several films. Counts toward the East Asian Studies major.
