First Semester. Selected issues in international relations. In 2006 the seminar focuses on International Criminal Law (the law of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes), related domestic and international institutions (military tribunals, truth commissions, mixed courts, ad hoc international tribunals, and the International Criminal Court), and relevant international relations and international legal concepts (international norms, state sovereignty, universal jurisdiction, positive and natural law). Students will research and write a major paper throughout the course of the semester, engage in debate, discussion, and presentations.
Prerequisites & Notes Consent of instructor required.
