RELG 217 - Christian Thought and Action: Early and Medieval

First Semester. A interpretive study of the Christian tradition from the time of the early Church through the 13th century. The focus will be on Christian interpretations and articulations of the relationship between God and the world. The course will present debates concerning the nature of the material world, human free will, and knowledge of God in their intellectual and historical contexts, and provide an examination of monasticism, mysticism, iconography, and heresy.
