First Semester. Modern China and Japan were characterized by their interactions with Western nations and their transformation from ancient civilizations to modern nation states. This course addresses the modern developments of art and architecture in the two countries, considering the representation of nation, the design of national monuments, national style in art, and art and architecture for the modern nation state.
Prerequisites & Notes Consent of instructor required. Enrollment Limit: 15.
