CINE 280 - The Cinematic Avant-Garde 4 HU, WR New Course added 10/15/2006
Second Semester. This course explores the cinematic avant-garde as a site where political and social change has been imagined through experiments with style and form – often as alternatives to the politics associated with mainstream culture. Through various kinds of written, visual, and aural texts, this course looks at the projects of avant-garde “communities” that utilized film, including the Surrealists, the New American Cinema, The London Filmmakers Coop, Third Cinema, and Fluxus.
