GEOL 188 - Modern Mapping Technologies Semester Offered: Second Semester, Second Module Credits (Range): 2 Hours Attribute: 2 NS, QP-H
This course will examine techniques for measuring and representing Earth’s surface and consider how those techniques can be applied to practical problems in earth and environmental sciences. Students will learn elementary cartography, the theory behind traditional surveying and mapping techniques, and the theory behind modern surveying techniques that utilize laser telemetry and global positioning systems (GPS). Students will, in exercises, make maps using both traditional and modern surveying techniques and GPS. Enrollment Limit: 20. Instructor: S. Wojtal
