GEOL 242 - Groundwater Hydrogeology

An introduction to groundwater movement and quality emphasizing its use and abuse by humans. Topics covered include predicting groundwater flow patterns, interactions with surface water, well drilling and pumping, groundwater contamination and remediation, and variations in groundwater resources from region to region throughout the United States. Lab activities include a pump test on water wells at the Jones farm and a weekend field trip to Niagara Falls. Enrollment Limit: 24.

Prerequisites: Knowledge of algebra and either GEOL 120, 160, or 162, or consent of instructor.
Note: Intro CHEM recommended.
