PSYC 480 - Seminar in Behavior Genetics

The seminar in Behavior Genetics will investigate genetic and environmental influences on human behavior. Through the use of twin studies, adoption studies and family studies we will parcel out the amount of variance in human behaviors and diseases due to genetic influences and the amount due to the environment. Topics discussed will include autism, schizophrenia, intelligence, mood disorders and personality to name a few. The course will also discuss the moral and ethical concerns surrounding cloning, genetic engineering and genetics’ ugly sister, eugenics. Enrollment limit: 15.

Prerequisites & Notes
Prerequisites: PSYC 100, PSYC 200 and at least one additional 200-level psychology course. PSYC 300 is recommended.
