RELG 217 - Christianity in the Early Medieval World, 180-1100 Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3 HU
This course offers an interpretive study of the development of Christianity in the Greek east and Latin west. The focus will be on understandings and articulations of the relationship between God and the world. Debates on these themes and the historical developments of monasticism, mysticism, iconography, and heresy will be considered within their larger contexts of Greco-Roman culture, Christianity as an imperial religion, and the emergence of Islam.
