RELG 317 - Eucharist in the Middle Ages Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours Attribute: 3 HU
This course will explore the complex phenomenon of the eucharist in the medieval period. The medieval eucharist became a locus for the consolidation of ecclesiastical authority, a liberating symbol and practice for female mystics, and a catalyst for anti-Semitic violence throughout Europe. The course will investigate these diverse responses through consideration of medieval views on sacraments, miracles, embodiment, female spirituality, anti-Semitism, and metaphysics. Enrollment Limit: 15. Instructor: C. Barnes
