THEA 302 - Non-Literary Theater Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours Attribute: 3 HU
Utilizing videotape excerpts from legendary productions, this course traces the evolution of “non-literary” theater in America from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. It begins by examining the “Theater of the Body” in the work of The Living Theatre and The Open Theatre; moves to more “painterly” theater pieces by Robert Wilson, and concludes with recent works of Mabou Mimes and The Wooster Group in which actor/audience participation is replaced by technological “mediation.” Enrollment Limit: 20. Instructor: R. Copeland
