CHEM 205 - Principles of Organic Chemistry


Semester Offered: First and Second Semester
Credits (Range): 4 Hours
Attribute: 4 NS

A one-semester introduction to the basic principles, theories, and applications of the chemistry of carbon compounds. Representative reactions, preparation, and properties of carbon compounds will be covered. The laboratory will provide experience with purification, physical and spectroscopic characterization, and synthesis of organic substances. Fall Semester Enrollment Limit: 30 per section. Spring Semester Enrollment Limit: 25 per section.

Prerequisites & Notes
Prerequisite: C- or better in CHEM 102 or 103. 
In the fall, the Thursday laboratory section will open only if the enrollment exceeds the capacity of the Tuesday and Wednesday laboratory sections.
