FYSP 150 - Contemporary East Asian Cinema

This course compares the emergence of “New Cinema” in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and Korea since the 1980’s. We will examine the major cultural and socio-political contexts in which each cinematic movement is produced, and pay attention to the specific issues raised in individual films.
