FYSP 171 - Media and Meaning Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 4 Hours Attribute: 4HU, WRi
Print media, cinema, radio, television, the internet—these all profoundly influence the ways we understand and experience the world. In this course we will consider the broad question of how media produce meaning. To structure our inquiry, we will focus on a variety of different media “texts” and attempt to read them self-consciously in order to expand our ideas about what they can mean to include a sense of how and why. Enrollment limit: 14. Instructor: G. Pingree Prerequisites & Notes
