MHST 316 - Studies in Opera: Modern Europe


Semester Offered: Second Semester
Credits (Range): 3 Hours
A survey of European opera since 1950, with concentration on British, French, German and Italian works.  Some composers whose works will be considered are Britten, Knussen, Adès, Weir, Birtwistle, Messiaen, Saariaho, Dallapiccola, Nono, Berio, Sciarrino, Henze, Zimmermann, Stockhausen, Lachenmann, Schnittke, Ligeti, Penderecki, Andriessen.
