FREN 429 - La Littérature du Maghreb Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 Hours Attribute: 3 HU, CD
This course will explore the rise of North African Francophone Literature, from its inception to the present. We will examine colonial and post-colonial periods, lingering on various aspects of the local character of “la littérature du combat” as well as post-independence texts that aim at the universal. Readings will include fiction and poetry as well as critical essays from writers very much aware of both their Arab/Berber and French disposition. Enrollment Limit: 12. Instructor: A.
