A introductory historical survey of the history of Korea since its incorporation into the capitalist world economy. Among the topics explored are nationalist movements and Japanese colonialism, Cold War and the origins of the Korean War, North Korean corporatism, authoritarianism and capitalism in South Korea and the future of reunification.  Enrollment Limit 25.
