LOND 924 - Bridges, Towers, and Skyscrapers Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 4 Hours This course introduces students to a variety of large, man-made structures, with a particular emphasis on British and continental examples (e.g. Tower Bridge, Iron Bridge, Eiffel Tower, and Gherkin), through a consideration of their structural, social, and aesthetic aspects. We will focus on the relationship between the form and function of each structure. Physics concepts that are necessary for quantitative analysis will be presented. Field trips will include many sites within London as well as traveling beyond the sites in Wales and Scotland. Enrollment Limit: 25. Instructor: C. Cunningham Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: Mathematics 124 or 131 recommended.
