This mini-course (graded CR/NE or P/NP) is designed to prepare for and benefit from the 2008 Oberlin Lectures in English and American Literature given by Prof. Luke Gibbons of Notre Dame University. Focusing on three films by John Ford and one recent Irish film – Fort Apache (1947), The Quiet Man (1952), The Searchers (1956), and Hard Road to Klondike (Dir Desmond Bell, 1999). – this course will examine Irish and Native American resonances in film.
