This interdisciplinary colloquium will be an imaginary and literary journey during which you will discover the Paris of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Through readings of literary texts you will explore the transformation of urban space (Haussmannization) and of society. You will study different facets of the French capital city: its history, architecture, neighborhoods, monuments, and people While discovering the city, you will also discover literary movements such as realism, naturalism, symbolism, surrealism, and modernism.
