PHIL 345 - Law, Liberty, Privacy, and Property: Libertarianism and its Critics

Are there moral limits to the government’s power to tax for public goods or to provide for the badly off? Does an extensive surveillance state, gun prohibition, socialized health care, or state paternalism violate rights of citizens? We will consider these and other questions through an examination of libertarian literature and criticisms. (V) Enrollment limit: 15. Instructor: T.
