Using a variety of readings from Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Buddhism, we will explore ways in which these religious traditions approach questions of ethics, particularly questions relating to how one’s religious identity and commitments can be guides to the moral life. We will focus on key themes such as identify formation, ideas of the self, divine and human freedom, and human responsibility, and highlight the complexity of religious ethics as a cross-cultural endeavor.
