This course examines the African presence in the Caribbean and identifies some of the main features of the African cultural legacy in the region throughout the plantation and post- plantation eras. It seeks to explicate Caribbean thought and practice by examining how aspects of Caribbean history, demography and cultural forms were influenced by the world views and customs of people from West and West-Central Africa.
