This is a 4-week mini-course examining the causes behind the subprime mortgage crisis: the securitization of mortgages, off-balance-sheet bank lending, loose monetary policy, lax oversight by financial market and banking regulators, and fraud. The course will also examine the effects of the crisis on the greater Cleveland housing market. Taught by James Rokakis, Cuyahoga County Treasurer. Meets evenings, Sept. 18, 25; Oct. 2, 9.
