ANTH 970 - Culture Clash in Multiethnic Europe: Anthropological Case Studies in Race, Cultural Politics, and Human Rights
Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 6 Hours Attribute:6 SS, CD In this course we will study the cultural and political challenges that have arisen in post-colonial Great Britain, and Europe more broadly, regarding issues of pluralism, human rights and cultural difference. We will examine emergent controversies involving slavery, veiling, female circumcision, nativism, citizenship laws, the human rights system of the European Union and ethical debates over overseas conquest and colonization.
