FYSP 101 - The Making of an Ayatollah

Ayatollah, a title for senior Shi’ite Muslim clergy, has attracted much attention in the West since the success of the Islamic revolution in Iran under clerical leadership in 1979. This course provides a detailed analysis of the educational, religious, social and political formation of an ayatollah, and the lived reality of clerical leadership in the modern Shi’a world.
