HIST 101 - Medieval and Early Modern European History Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3SS An introductory level survey course extending from the fall of Rome through the ‘modernization’ of medieval Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. Topics will include: the political and religious order in the early Middle Ages, conflict between Church and Empire, the urbanization of Europe, the culture of the High Middle Ages, the growth of secular monarchies, the Black Death, the Italian Renaissance, the Protestant Reformation and the Scientific Revolution.
