HIST 205 - Silk Road Pipelines: The Great Powers in Central Asia, 1813-Present Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3 SS The Caucuses and Central Asia (which includes Afghanistan) have been at the center of global economic competition that defined much of the 19th and 20th centuries. This course examines how the interactions /conflicts between the native populations and the so-called Great Powers (Great Britain, Russia, China, and the U.S) shaped both the region and international politics in the modern era.
