POLT 331 - Seminar: Modernity and Postmodernity in Contemporary Political Theory Semester Offered: First Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3SS An intensive, critical examination of the works of several recent political theorists (Arendt, Habermas, Foucault, and some others). Particular attention will be given to issues raised in recent debates about modernity and postmodernity, such as the nature of history and the possibility of progress, the place of truth and knowledge in politics, and whether we can still talk of social emancipation.
