POLT 409 - Public Education, Policy and Law Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3SS This seminar will explore how law and policy interact in public education (K12 and higher education), focusing on significant Supreme Court constitutional rulings involving race and/or religion. We will grapple with several questions: 1) What theory of judicial review should the Court embrace? 2) How are Court decisions made? 3) What impact do Court decisions have on policy and practice? 4) To what extent does (or should) the law limit policy options in these areas?
