JWST 231 - The Book of Job and its History of Interpretation Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3HU, CD, WR The Book of Job has fostered centuries of theological and existential questioning on the nature of divine justice, the meaning of suffering, and the existence of evil. The course will consider the book of Job in its ancient Israelite context as it spoke to a conquered and exiled “people of God.” It will also examine Jewish and Christian interpretations of Job that address different contexts of human alienation and suffering.
