RELG 390 - Forgiveness in the Islamic and Christian Traditions Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 hours Attribute: 3HU, CD, WR This course examines forgiveness within the Christian and Islamic traditions. Our aim is to attend to each tradition in detail before engaging in comparison. Topics discussed from the Christian tradition include biblical literature, theological interpretations, and spiritual practices linked to forgiveness (Rosary of the Holy Wounds, penance). Topics discussed from the Islamic tradition include the Quranic and Hadith literatures, Islamic theology and ethics, and texts of supplication used in the Muslim piety rituals.
