This seminar will study selected theatrical works of Shakespeare through their manifestations in other media, such as film, opera, musical theater, ballet, symphonic music, novelizations, paintings and prints, graphic novels, and other adaptations. Students will write an extended term paper on a related subject of their own choosing. Open by application, first to senior English majors, then to others as space allows, with interest in exploring literature through its relationship to other arts. British, Pre-1700.
