This course aims to give students a working vocabulary for the study of theater and performance in Spain from the Renaissance to the present, underscoring theoretical and historical dimensions and the stage’s relation to race and gender. By examining the ways in which identities are staged throughout Spanish history, we will explore the intersection between major cultural events and theatrical performance.
