MHST 352 - Hands-On Music History: America and Britain in the Selch Collection Semester Offered: Second Semester Credits (Range): 3 Attribute: CNDP, DDHU This class will work directly with materials from the “Selch Collection of American Music History” - rare books, scores, prints, and instruments, house at Oberlin. Our main area of inquiry will be the music scene in the United States and Britain during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. We will look at concert, domestic, vernacular, sacred and civic music, with special attention to its performance venues and practices. Class discussions will also take up collection and curator ship. The course is co-taught with curator of the collection, Barbara Lambert. Enrollment Limit: 12 Instructor: C. Macdonald, B. Lambert Consent of the Instructor Required?
