APST 216 - Improvisation at the Organ Next Offered: TBD Semester Offered: FALL Credits (Range): 2 Hours Attribute: CNDP A course designed to help students acquire the technical and mental disciplines necessary to improvise in different classical styles. The course is devoted primarily to learning how to apply keyboard harmony in improvising short pieces and to developing simple contrapuntal techniques. Cantus firmus treatment in two, three, and four-part textures will be explored along with more extended free forms. Consent of instructor required. Enrollment Limit: 5 Instructor: M. Langlais Consent of the Instructor Required: Yes Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisites: APST 214. Only open to organ majors.
