A study of vertebrate structure from evolutionary and functional perspectives. This topic is introduced by a discussion of the origin of vertebrates, their phylogeny, paleontological record, and basic embryology. The morphological differences in each major organ system are studied primarily in terms of phylogenetic history and functional adaptation. All students will participate fully in the anatomical laboratory exercises. Enrollment Limit: 20 Instructor: M. Benoit Consent of the Instructor Required: Yes Prerequisites & Notes Prerequisite: BIOL 100/101 (Organismal Biology). Notes: BIOL 102 (Genetics, Evolution, and Ecology) recommended. Students must register for both lecture and lab.
