An introduction to the teacher’s role in instructional settings and the kinds of knowledge and skills necessary for effective teaching. Includes music field experience in public schools in which students observe and participate as instructional aides. Class sessions focus on demonstrations of verbal and nonverbal teacher behaviors; techniques for observing, recording, assessing, and managing classroom behaviors; pathways for understanding learner responses; and models for planning music instruction. Open to Conservatory undergraduate and MMT students.
