This seminar discusses some of the most important recent and contemporary American political theories, focusing on controversies about the nature of justice and the scope and extent of democracy in a political society of plurality and difference. Various approaches to political theory are represented, including the work of Rawls, Nozick, Walzer, Connolly, Young and others.
