This course will introduce students to the main lines of contintenal philosophical thought on aesthetics, with a emphasis on the status of the work of art as a special case of aesthetic inquiry. The course will begin with the major works of Kant and Hegel, and continue through poststructuralist, media-theoretical and neo-Marxian thought. Enrollment Limit: 20 Instructor: J.
