This intermediate/advanced level interdisciplinary Studio course focuses intensively on creating work out of that of others. Few other art-making strategies allow for such direct and pointed cultural critique as does appropriation, and few have been so maligned by a skeptical public and legal system. From “hip-hop” to “high art”, we will consider how artists use and abuse source material and how these strategies shape contemporary culture. Your interest in experimenting with unconventional materials required. Field trips are required. Enrollment Limit: 8 Instructor: J.
