This course is an introduction to thinking like a social scientist. Content focuses on sociological concepts and methodology. Topics covered include: social inequality, race and ethnicity, social institutions, new media, gender as structure, sexuality, and socioeconomic class. Analysis at the individual, interactional, and structural levels feature prominently. Classic and contemporary readings will guide our exploration of the discipline of sociology.
